Tandem Health: Scaling AI to Transform Clinical Workflows Across Europe

Stockholm-based Tandem Health is developing AI software designed to reduce the administrative workload faced by healthcare professionals.

Its best-known product is an AI medical assistant that listens to consultations and helps generate structured clinical notes. The goal is simple: reduce the amount of time clinicians spend documenting appointments so they can dedicate more attention to patients.

The company is now expanding this concept beyond clinical documentation. Its longer-term ambition is to develop an AI-native operating system for clinical workflows, covering additional activities such as patient flows, clinical decision support, documentation and coding.

By September 2026, Tandem said its technology was being used by around 10,000 care organisations across 14 European countries.

The September 2026 Series B

September 2026 marks another major stage in Tandem Health’s growth.

The Swedish company is finalising a $100 million Series B led by the Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT. The round represents the fund’s first investment in AI healthcare.

Existing investors including Kinnevik, Northzone, Amino Collective and Visionaries Club are also participating.

The new capital is intended to accelerate Tandem’s expansion among European healthcare providers and support the company’s evolution from an AI medical assistant into a broader clinical operating system.

The timing is significant. Tandem is raising at a point when its technology has already achieved substantial adoption, meaning the new capital is being deployed primarily for scaling rather than initial product validation.

From medical notes to an AI-native healthcare platform

Tandem’s product addresses one of healthcare’s persistent problems: the amount of administrative work required from clinicians.

Its AI assistant can prepare patient summaries, generate documentation during or after consultations and support administrative workflows such as coding. Tandem says clinicians using its products report a reduction in time spent on administrative tasks.

The company is also building integrations across European healthcare systems. This is particularly important because healthcare is highly fragmented across countries, with different languages, regulations, workflows and information systems.

Rather than treating this complexity only as a barrier, Tandem’s European focus has become part of its positioning. The company aims to develop AI specifically for European healthcare environments.

Tandem’s funding journey

Tandem’s earlier funding rounds established the foundations for its current expansion.

The company raised an approximately €8.9 million seed round in June 2024, with investors including Northzone, Amino Collective, Google DeepMind, OpenAI and the founder of Capio Sverige.

In June 2025, Tandem announced a $50 million Series A, led by Kinnevik with participation from Northzone, Amino Collective and Visionaries Club. Kinnevik reported that it invested €30 million in the €40 million funding round.

The Series A provided the resources for European expansion and further product development. The September 2026 Series B now represents a substantial step up in scale, with the company moving from expansion to building a broader AI platform for healthcare.

What the funding journey shows

Tandem’s journey highlights the importance of proving real-world adoption before pursuing major scale-up capital.

The company did not raise its largest round simply because healthcare AI was a promising market. Its financing followed evidence that clinicians and healthcare organisations were actually using the product.

The progression from a focused clinical documentation product to a wider healthcare platform also demonstrates how funding can support a strategic expansion of the original business model.

For founders, the lesson is to connect fundraising milestones with measurable business milestones. Investors need to see not only what a company could become, but evidence that its technology is already solving a meaningful problem.
